Questions people ask
How is the AP Environmental Science exam scored?
Section I is 80 multiple-choice questions worth 60 percent of your score. Section II is 3 free-response questions worth 40 percent, each scored out of 10 points. The College Board combines the sections into a composite and converts it to a 1 to 5 AP score.
Does the College Board publish the score cutoffs?
No. Cutoffs shift a little each year depending on how hard the exam was. This calculator uses estimates, and you can switch between a harder, typical, and easier year.
What is a good score on AP Environmental Science?
A 3 is generally considered qualifying, and many colleges give credit or placement for a 4 or 5. Credit policies are set by each college, so check the schools you are applying to.
Is one FRQ point worth more than one multiple-choice question?
Yes. A multiple-choice question is worth about 0.75 percent of your composite and an FRQ point about 1.33 percent, so one FRQ point is worth almost two multiple-choice questions.
Is this the official College Board calculator?
No. It is a free estimator made by a high school APES teacher. It uses the published exam structure, but the conversion to a 1 to 5 score is an estimate.
